PROJECT 1:

BACK TO OUR ROOTS

 { INTRO: CULTURE & CIVILIZATION  IS A CLASS BASED ON THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CULTURES AND HOW THEY ARE PRESNTED IN OUR COMMUNITY TODAY. THIS CLASS IS TUTORED BY LECTURER MS. IDA AND CO-TUTORED BY LECTURER, MS. SUFINA. CULTURE & CIVILIZATION CONSISTS OF 3 PROJECTS: PROJECT 1 { BACK TO OUR ROOTS }, PROJECT 2 {  } AND FINAL PROJECT { }. ALL THESE 3 PROJECTS PLUS THIS E-PORTFOLIO WILL BE TAKEN TO ACCOUNT FOR THE FINAL GRADE. IN THIS CLASS, WE LEARNT THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CULTURES AROUND THE WORLD, THE TRADITION OF OUR FAMILY IN GREATER DETAIL AND THE REASON OF CIVILIZATION AMONGST OTHER THINGS. }

 

{ In groups of two, this assignment requires us to explore and get to know our family roots in more depth. For this assignment, I chose Sara as my partner, as we both are now used to working with each other. For the assignment we had to interview the chosen family of one group member and produce 2 A3 boards based on the information we have gathered from the chosen family. As for the individual component, we had to produce an A5 booklet about our family's culture and traditions. This booklet is a maximum of 4 pages. To gather information of the chosen family, which finally was chosen to be my mother's side, Sara and I decided to interview some of the family members arraying of different age groups. Timing was good to us, as relatives from Penang had come down to KL, making it easier for me to arrange an interview. }

{ Here I learnt the different superstitions, cultures, festivals and occupations that make up my family name and traditional values. With the skill of incorporating infographic boards and interesting information about my forefathers, Sara and I came up with a unique appearance. Finally, the interview also helps us brush up on your communication skills. Skills like these can be applied to the working world and future assignments. }

PROJECT 2:

MESSAGES FROM THE PAST

{ In groups of six, this assignment requires us to explore and get to know past important empire/ clans in more depth. For this assignment, my group members were Sara, Jean, Yang, Lawrence, Shreya, Fiona and I. For the assignment we had to research the chosen clan given to us, which was ROME and produce a 10-15 minute documentry video alongside a report to show our research done throughout the given time . As for the individual component, we had to produce an A5 booklet about our character. This booklet is a maximum of 6 pages. My character was Alexander the Great, and for our play we decided to focus on the Diadochi War and the myth of Remus and Romulus. }

{ Here I learnt the different superstitions, cultures, festivals and occupations that make up Roman traditional values. With the skill of managing and handling tasks to people, we learnt that we work faster and better in this manner. Also, communication is key to successfully create a video regarding Roman empire and fore-history. Time management is also key when showing tutorials through our padlet for each week.  }

PROJECT 3:

ART + ARCHITECTURE + CULTURE

{ Postcards are a card for sending a message by mail without an envelope, typically having a photograph or other illustration on one side.


We are required to do a literature research on places we select. From the literature review, we need to study the theme given and its connection between any given aspect of our own finding and understanding.

 

The themes given are:

 

  • Malaysian Architecture

  • Fusion Architecture

  • Religious Places

{ In this final project, I learnt the art of digital litercay by using online editing applications on the internet such as picmonkey. This gave me a sense of achievement by calling the postcards, I made my own. I also learnt skills such as photography through this assignment. Eventhough, this assignment at first, looked easy, it definately wasnt as I learnt that we need to back up our work, with reseach that has to be done thoroughly.  }
