CONSTRUCTED LANDSCAPE

 { INTRO: CONSTRUCTED LANDSCAPE IS A CLASS BASED ON LANDSCAPE DESIGNS AND FEATURES. THIS CLASS IS TUTORED BY LECTURER MS. IFFA AND CO-TUTORED BY LECTURER, MS.RENEE. CONSTRUCTED LANDSCAPE CONSISTS OF 3 PROJECTS: PROJECT 1 { EXPERIMENTIAL LANDSCAPE }, PROJECT 2 { RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS } AND FINAL PROJECT { RESIDENTIAL LANDSCAPE PROJECT }. ALL THESE 3 PROJECTS PLUS THIS E-PORTFOLIO WILL BE TAKEN TO ACCOUNT FOR THE FINAL GRADE. IN THIS CLASS, WE LEARNT THE HIERACHY OF PARKS, THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LANDSCAPE , HARDSCAPE AND SOFTSCAPE PALLETES , HOW TO DRAW TREE SYMBOLS AMONGST OTHER THINGS. }

{ My teammates, Jean, Adam, Sara, Omar and I were working as one team, for Constructed Landscape, Project 1. The theme of this project was experential landscape. Group leader Adam, drew from a lottery, Pocket Parks, as our topic. At first, we didn't quite understand what a pocket park was, however with lots of research we understood that a pocket park, is an open area between 2 or more buildings. }

 

PROJECT 1: PRESENTATION

{ Here we learnt the key elements of a pocket park and what it consists of. We also learnt how important parks are in human's daily life. We also learnt about how to make a good and clear presentation. Finally, research was very crucial to find out the location and history behind pocket parks world wide. }

PROJECT 2A: 

SITE ANALYSIS

{ In this project, groups of 6-7 people, had to find a site that consisted of a semi-detached house or bigger. In this site, we had to undergo analysis and come up with ways to improve the exsiting condition of the site. Our group was made of Sara, Jean, Omar, Shreya, Seraj, Arai and myself. The site we chose was a relatives of mine located at Jalan SS 19/4. }

{ During the time spent for this project, I learnt that time management is very important in finishing the work on time. This project also taught me the people that I can or cannot work with. I now realise that the selection of group members play a key role in group assignments. Education wise, I learnt that site analysis isnt only looking at the site and observing, however, it is also to improve the site conditions to make it a better place for the people who live there. I also learnt the importance of scales and base maps. Each symbol has its own meaning and purpose for the base plan. }

PROJECT 2B: 

DESIGNING LANDSCAPE

{ For our final project of CL, each of us had to design a new garden with a theme for the same site that we used in Project 2A. In this garden design, I decided to mix to themes of Balinese and Japanese to create an unusual fusion. This assignement was designed o be presented like a proposal. Submission requirement was 2 A2 boards including plan, pictures and sketches. }

{ Here I learnt that the different steps and procedures to create a design which is visually pleasing as well as practical. I also  gained knowledge in the landscape field by applying important elements in project 2A into my design. Besides that, I learnt new terms that are used in the landscape industry such as 'hardscape', 'softscape' and 'pallette'. }
